About Mangalam Press

Mangalam Press is the publishing arm of Mangalam Research Center for Buddhist Languages, established by Tibetan lama Tarthang Tulku in 2008. It focuses primarily on scholarly works, including translations. It aims to advance the disciplines of Buddhist and Religious Studies, promote the study of the history and culture of Tibet and Buddhist Asia, and support contributions to ongoing conversations on Buddhism and modernity.

In fulfilling its mission, Mangalam Press seeks to further understanding of the rich interconnections between philosophy, psychology, language studies, and spiritual practice within the Buddhist tradition, particularly as it developed in India, Tibet, and the Himalayan region, and to explore how this understanding can be brought to bear on the contemporary world.

Launched in 2018, Mangalam Press publishes reliable translations of Buddhist texts and academic works that explore the Buddhist and Tibetan heritage and the ways that Buddhist traditions are participating in the most important conversations of our time.

Mangalam Press is happy to consider manuscripts from new or established scholars that align with our mission. For more information or to submit a proposal, contact
